Registered Educational Psychologist
Practice Number: 0549576
My journey as an Educational Psychologist began during my teaching practical for the subject of Life Orientation. Throughout that time I was approached by a variety of learners seeking emotional and learning support. It was then that I realised that I wanted to engage with the learners on a more in-depth and personal level. I went on to actualise my passion for educational psychology by obtaining my Masters degree from the University of Pretoria.
Thereafter, I gained invaluable experience during my internship year at the Centre for Psychological Services and Career Development (PsyCaD) at the University of Johannesburg. I was afforded the opportunity of working with a diversity of clients, including children, adolescents and young adults. I gained experience administering psycho-educational, career and emotional assessments and was exposed to a variety of therapeutic approaches and techniques. I was additionally trained in intermediate Ericksonian Hypnosis and Psychotherapy and Ego State therapy.
My practice of educational psychology is grounded within the paradigm of positive psychology, thus with a strong focus on working with individuals from a strengths-based approach. My motivation in work and life is to make a positive impact on the lives of others; to help learners actualise their optimal potential; to provide guidance and support; and to personally keep learning and growing.
